About This Show

LA Weekly “Pick of the Week!” and “Recommended!”

“remarkably probing and compassionate play”
“superb! …keeps us riveted!”
– Steven Leigh Morris, LA Weekly

Circus Theatricals continues its collaboration with award-winning playwright Shem Bitterman with the world premiere of The Circle, directed by Bitterman. In the play, a High School boy opens fire on a prayer group, killing two girls. In the aftermath, a grieving father desperately seeks to understand why the boy did it, and who’s really to blame. As he searches for the answers, he finds himself in a struggle for his own survival. While the play may bring specific High School shootings to mind, Shem Bitterman based his fictitious story on an amalgam of several tragic events in recent years.
