We Will Rock You

We Will Rock You is a raucous tribute to the much-loved music of Queen, with a story scripted by Ben Elton. Michael A. Fudala directs.

The play is bursting with classic songs (28 in all), including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Killer Queen,” “We Will Rock You,” “We are the Champions,” “Who Wants to Live Forever,” “I Want to Break Free,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Somebody to Love,” “Innuendo,” “Headlong,” “Hammer to Fall,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Play the Game,” “Under Pressure,” “I Want it All,” “Fat Bottomed Girls.” and “The Seven Seas of Rhye.”

The story has its tongue firmly in cheek, filled with double entendres and cultural references that adults will love, and effervescent music that will please even the most expectant musical theater afficionados.

The story is based in the distant future, when musical instruments have been banned. People can no longer make their own music. Instead they are force-fed virtual boy and girl bands, all of which churn out corporate-approved content. The corporate behemoth, GlobalSoft, controls the planet’s music industry and has destroyed musical creativity, and now people exist solely to consume the company’s approved products.

Individuality is perceived by GlobalSoft to be an insidious evil, and a threat to their world domination. Their corporate police control anyone who does not comply, and destroy every remnant of their creativity.

However, there is an underground of opposition brewing — teenagers who keep alive the legend of rock music and live “Bohemian” lifestyles to rebel against GlobalSoft.

The Killer Queen, an evil dominatrix, is GlobalSoft’s leader, a tyrant determined to quell the rebellion and find and destroy all musical instruments. Will she succeed or will the Bohemians save rock music and the world’s youth from her evil corporate domination?
