About This Show

Lanford Wilson’s Talley’s Folly is a no-holds-barred, romantic valentine of a play, complete with frou-frou. The action takes place in a run-down, gazebo-like boathouse on the Talley estate in Lebanon, Missouri on July 4th, 1944. It is the story of Matt Friedman, a Jewish accountant from St. Louis, and his attempt to win the hand of Sally Talley, the free-thinking daughter of a wealthy Ozark family. He and Sally had a week-long affair twelve months ago, but she has kept her distance and pushed him away ever since. One year later, Matt has come-a-courtin’, wanting to know why. What deep, dark secret does Sally have that has made her an outcast in her own family and a complete mystery to Matt? It is an unlikely love story of two mismatched people. Or are they?
