About the Show

Chosen from hundreds of scripts as the winner of Celebration’s First Annual New Play Contest, Still Photos is a love story set in 1940’s America. Aubra is a housebound, Fifth Avenue opera diva, whose career collapsed when she was crippled in the polio epidemic of 1931. Charlie is a modern day "Rosie the Riveter," whose job as a projectionist at the Flatbush Cinema fuels her dreams of becoming a movie producer. While their men are fighting the war in Europe, these two women, unaware that they are being haunted by the future, fall desperately and dangerously in love. Can they overcome society’s expectations and prejudices and find their own fulfillment amid unexpected circumstances, or is their love doomed even as it begins to flourish?
