Featuring selections such as “Every One’s a Little Bit Racist” from Avenue Q, “White Boys” from Hair, and “Rose’s Turn” from Gypsy, as well as Les Miserables’s “On My Own” sung by male students, Songs They’ll Never Let Me Sing came from the realization by young musical theatre performers that there are roles in which they will never be cast, due to type, gender, age, or ethnicity. The revue allows those talented young performers to break the mold, shake things up, and become characters whose songs they have always dreamed of singing.
