Lunch with Marlene

About the Show

New End Theatre presents Lunch with Marlene, a play and cabaret written by Chris Burgess, with direction and musical staging by Stewart Nicholls.

The piece celebrates Marlene Dietrich’s thirty-eight year long friendship with Noël
Coward. Renowned actress, Kate O’Mara makes her New End Theatre debut with co-star Frank Barrie as Noël Coward.

London. 1970. The legendary Dietrich phones her great friend Noël Coward in desperation… and they meet for lunch. Marlene has news that alarms even the facetious Mr Coward … news that revives traumatic memories of Dietrich’s time spent on the front-line during the war, her journey to Belsen concentration camp to locate her sister Elisabeth, and her painful return to Berlin in 1960. After lunch (and the interval!) Marlene and Noël
showcase a concert of all their hit songs from Lilli Marlene and London Pride to Naughty Lola and Mad Dogs and Englishmen.
