About the Show

Direct from a sell-out success in London and based on the award-winning TV film The Last of the Blonde Bombshells starring Judi Dench, this warm and witty musical play is filled with live performances of 1940s classics performed by a
sensational 8-piece live swing band.

Bandleader Betty has a problem. Every time the Blonde Bombshells play a GI camp, they all go AWOL! With a job looming, Betty needs to find new musicians fast. Among those drafted in
are schoolgirl Liz on clarinet; upper-crust saxophonist Miranda, Lily the singing nun and male drummer Patrick, prepared to don a frock to avoid a drafting. With the line-up complete,
the band prepares to make the dangerous journey to a secret BBC recording – and potential fame and fortune!

Blonde Bombshells of 1943 is packed with toe-tapping classics by Fats Waller, The Andrews Sisters, Ella Fitzgerald, Glenn Miller and many more, including “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,” “Goodbye,” and “T’aint What You Do.” Drive away the blues with this hilarious musical play!
