About This Show

All in the Timing was originally a book of six one act plays dating from 1987-1993. The current collection contains fourteen short and comedic one-acts. Modern Muse performs the following six plays:

Sure Thing: a classic of American comedy in which boy meets girl and pick up lines ensue.

Words, Words, Words: three chimpanzees attempt to write Hamlet.

The Universal Language: a love story communicated in the invented language Unamunda.

The Philadelphia: a man thinks he is just having a bad day, but learns he has actually fallen into a metaphysical hole.

Variations on the Death of Trotsky: a comic look at the assassination of the famous Russian revolutionary, killed by his Mexican gardener, who smashed a mountain climber’s axe into his skull.

English Made Simple: an immediate romantic attraction is translated into comically unromantic grammar lessons as they struggle to free themselves from the banal constrictions of party talk.
