About This Show

Teatro Luna presents the full-length, Chicago run of S-e-x-Oh!, a new work from Chicago’s all Latina theater company, offering a bold new look at Latina sexuality from the point of view of six very different Latina women.

Based on true life stories and a few strategic re-imaginings, it uses Teatro Luna’s trademark ensemble-based aesthetic to enter into the taboo terrain of sex, gender, and sexuality. Taking up the serious (sexual violence) and the tragically hilarious (a condom stuck WHERE?), S-e-x-Oh! moves beyond the stereotypes of Latina sexuality to explore the ways that sex and gender play out in real women’s lives. From nine year old girls looking for their placentas to a 27-year-old woman struggling with whether or not to keep the child she has conceived with her African-American boyfriend to an unfortunate encounter with piojos (lice), the stories cover a range of sex-related topics with straightforward humor and honesty.

There are Thursday shows on January 26, February 2, 9, and 16 at 7:30pm.
