The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre brings back its critically acclaimed production of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, for five months of newly added performances. The Vagina Monologues originally closed at Metropolis November 7 after a five-month run filled with critical and audience acclaim. The production proved to be a popular girls-night-out, not to mention a “let’s-really-get-to-know-ya” litmus test for guys and gals.
Playwright/activist Eve Ensler traveled the world interviewing women about their relationships with their bodies to create The Vagina Monologues, a patchwork of touching and funny stories from a wildly diverse group of women, each one bluntly exploring a specific aspect of the vagina. Light-hearted, shocking, hilarious and sometimes disturbing, The Vagina Monologues elicits a lot of laughs from women and men, while offering a whole new take on the once-forbidden terrain, “down there.”
