About This Show

Minnie Vautrin is a woman ahead of her time, a graduate from the University of Illinois in the early 1900?s who is progressive in thought, ingenious, and charming with staunch survival instincts. Join Minnie, a missionary in Nanking China, year 1937, as she and her cohorts save 10,000 women and children from the invading Japanese Imperial Army during the second Sino-Japanese war. Explore the irony of Minnie?s ability to help save the lives of thousands of refugees through heroic acts of bravery and the atrocities of this war, but she becomes too traumatized to save herself. This anti-war drama is a declaration of what these people endured and how they survived the terrors of war with fierce determination…according to Minnie. The Stockyards Theatre Project presents The Rape of Nanking??..According to Minnie by Chicago?s own Margaret G. Waterstreet. Cat Gleason directs.
