The 4th Graders Present an Unnamed Love-Suicide

About the Show

Johnny, a 4th Grader, has taken his own life by shooting himself in the head. As a suicide note, he leaves a play about the events at his school that lead him to his fatal decision. After his death, his fellow classmates perform his play as a form of school pageant. The performance, which is reminiscent of 18th century Japanese playwright Chikamatsu Monzaemon, tells of distorted love, insecure bullies, and a rich girl trying to have everything she wants in the world; but mostly shows Johnny’s quest for purity in an impure world.
