Sunday in the Park with George

About the Show

Sunday in the Park with George, which won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1985, takes its inspiration from the George Seurat modernist painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Act One examines Seurat’s life and his ground-breaking process of pointillism that set him apart from the popular Impressionist Artists of his time. Time-traveling to the present day, Act Two focuses on George, a contemporary artist and the great-grandson of Seurat, who battles his own artistic choices and compromises. Featuring some of Sondheim’s most heart wrenching songs, this is a daring, ambitious musical theater masterpiece.

Previews take place on Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17 at 8:00pm, plus Sunday, May 19 at 7:00pm. There is an additional performance on Wednesday, May 22 (official opening) at 8:00pm, and no performance on Thursday, May 23.
