About This Show

Ragtime, presented by the Chicago Theatre Company and Light Opera Works, follows the lives of three families, African-American, Anglo-Saxon Protestant, and a Jewish immigrant father and daughter as they welcome a new century. Their lives intertwine with the legends of the Ragtime era including Evelyn Nesbit, Harry Houdini, Emma Goldman, Henry Ford, and Booker T. Washington. The love story of Coalhouse Walker and Sarah and the saga of the other families march to the rhythm of a magnificent score featuring songs including “Wheels of a Dream,” “Goodbye My Love,” “Till We Reach That Day,” and “Our Children.”
