When orphaned Oliver asks for a simple, second helping of gruel, his life is sent into a whirlwind of adventures. Sold from his orphanage to the local undertaker, Oliver seizes a chance to run away. Forced into the scheming underworld of pick pocketing, Oliver finds himself caught in a tug of war with his family and the sinister characters he has met along the way.
