About This Show

The one-and-only Michael Feinstein shines in the not-to-be-missed gala opening concert. Renowned for reinvigorating the American popular song, four-time Grammy nominee Feinstein often collaborates with popular singers, including Liza Minnelli. Feinstein joins the Chicagoland Pops and Maestro Arnie Roth in performing music by some of the greatest American songwriters including George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington and Jerome Kern. After developing an interest in the piano at an early age, Feinstein met and worked with the legendary lyricist Ira Gershwin, organizing The Gershwin archives from 1977 until his death in 1983. A household name since the success of his 1988 one-man Broadway show, Isn’t It Romantic, Feinstein recently released “The Great American Songbook” and “The Michael Feinstein Anthology.”
