American Rock Anthem, by Sansculottes Theater Company founding member and Producing Director C. Mitchell Turner, is a modern comic farce about surviving the 1980s and finding true love. In the age of Dungeons & Dragons, heavy metal, and Stranger Danger, four teenagers desensitized by fictional gore must suddenly deal with the very real corpse of a cheerleader in the basement. Upstairs, their volatile Army-veteran patriarch wrestles with the demons of Vietnam, alcoholism, and the ungrateful spite of the nation–and that of his gun-toting 11-year-old neighbor.
