About This Show

Something Rare and Wonderful is the story of nine-year-old Maya as she learns to cope with the very grown-up issues of death and loss. Guided by her older sister Pilar, Maya participates in the vibrant rituals of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), which allows her to find solace through the celebration of life. This poignant play explores how cultural traditions help to shape our understanding of the world around us.
