About This Show

This celebratory program held in honor of the fifth anniversary of Dominic Walsh Dance Theater’s inaugural performance will feature the exciting company premiere of Jiri Kylian’s “Double You.”

Born in Prague, Kylian served as artistic director of the prestigious Nederlands Dans Theater for over twenty years and after retiring from that post in 1999, still maintains the essential roles as a resident choreographer. Kylian is considered to be one of the most prominent contemporary choreographers in the world today, and adding “Double You” to the company’s repertoire is a signal milestone.

“Double You,” set to the music of J. S. Bach, is a powerful solo for an extremely expressive male dancer that Kylian created in 1994. It was only revived in 2004, and is the most recent Kylian work obtained by any company in America.
