Pill Hill
At once dramatically satisfying and socially relevant, Pill Hill examines the failures, successes, and relationships of six black steel mill workers in Chicago as they move from the blue-collar to the white-collar profession. In nearly everyone’s dreams, there is a Pill Hill, glimmering in the distance, just out of reach. For some, it is never attainable. For others, it can be reached, but at a cost that can steal a man’s very soul. In Samuel Kelley’s play, the object of desire is merely an allegory for the drive to overcome one’s limitations and leave one’s roots behind. Featuring former members of the Freddie Hendricks Youth Ensemble. David Kote directs.
