This new production, set in early 19th century China, explores the true story of the Widow Cheng and her rise from prostitution to her command of one of China’s most ruthless pirate combines. For 32 years, she served as pirate commander and operated an aggressive and efficient business. The Pirate Widow Cheng is told using a variety of puppetry styles.
