About This Show

Rewnowned Atlanta storyteller and puppeteer Akbar Imhotep brings to life three new tales of African folklore. African Tales of Wisdom is told using live music and a variety of puppetry styles. “Zomo Seeks Wisdom” is about a young rabbit who goes to the Owner of Wisdom so he can be more than cute, fast, and smart. With good sense and courage, he learns that he must first be respectful, responsible, and fair before he can be wise. “The Princess Who Lost Her Hair” tells the story of a greedy child who refuses to share with a magic bird. When she loses her hair, she must rely on the help of a brave boy. Together, they discover the beauty of courage, caring, and commitment in solving problems. Finally, in “The Sky God’s Daughter,” Anansi learns the hard way the importance of keeping secrets and speaking up when it’s time to have your say.
