About This Show

The Yellow Wood tells the story of 17-year-old, Korean-American Adam, who is unpopular and chronically unable to get a date, whilst frantically trying to memorize Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” to recite in his English class today. Because he didn’t take his Ritalin this morning for his Attention Deficit Disorder, Adam can’t get much farther than the first line, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood…” Desperate to memorize the poem in order to prove to his parents he’s beaten A.D.D., he struggles to memorize the poem even as it begins to take on a life of its own, and the affections of a captivating girl on a yellow scooter pulls his attention elsewhere. As the Yellow Wood lures him deeper and deeper into its own world, he must confront his A.D.D., his cultural identity and the impact his behavior is having on his family… and English class is still coming! With explosive music and contemporary language, The Yellow Wood is a musical about the road we must face on the path to adulthood.
