George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker

The Balanchine Estate continues to grant Stamford Center for the Arts the rights to produce George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker making SCA’s production the only one throughout the entire northeast and one of only five companies in the country permitted to re-create his original choreography. This production features lavish costumes, luscious sets, the ‘growing’ Christmas tree, a flying sleigh, the splendid Balanchine choreography and Tchaikovsky’s immortal music masterpiece performed LIVE. Past Nutcracker performances have featured Ashley Bouder and Damian Woetzel, Principal Dancers with New York City Ballet plus Julie Kent and Jose Manuel Carreño with American Ballet Theatre in addition to pre-professional dancers from the School of American Ballet and over 80 children from tri-state area dance studios.
