The Lying Kind

The Lying Kind makes farce out of truly un-funny material, and yet, astonishingly, it succeeds brilliantly. The two English constables with their bad news are so kind hearted they can’t quite get round to telling the nice old couple at #58 exactly what’s happened. The mother has a severe case of dementia, the father has a very weak heart. Complications ensue. Other characters appear, including a ferocious huntress of pedophiles. Very soon the two well meaning officers are completely over their heads; their difficulties and confusion are compounding by the second. We’re not in London anymore–we’re in the land of simple merriment and pure farce.
