The Chancellor’s Tale is a dramatic behind-the-scenes power struggle within a church over whether to serve its people or to serve its traditions. Playwright Paul Mohrbacher writes this about his play, “Here is a play about the perils of being male and female, homosexual and heterosexual, in an organization that says we are all one. Like every other organization involved in power struggles, the church has winners and losers. Today the fight is about sexual morals, tomorrow about God’s existence, yesterday about church politics. Each day one ideology wins, the other loses.” Stephen Lavezza directs.
