About This Show

Performance Now Theatre Company presents The Baker’s Wife, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Joseph Stein based on the film La Femme de Boulanger by Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono.
Gary Dean Hathaway directs.

The endearing but contentious inhabitants of a rural village in Provence, France have been without a baker for seven weeks, and they’ve begun to bicker ceaselessly. Finally, Aimable the baker arrives with his young wife Genevieve and everything seems delicious again – until a young, strapping local handyman seduces Genevieve away from her older husband. The middle-aged baker loses all zest for life and baking, throwing the community into chaos.
