Do I Hear a Waltz? takes audiences on a musical romp through Venice as an unmarried American woman searches for love. Leona Samish, now “of a certain age,” has humbly dedicated her life to raising her younger siblings. Deciding it’s her turn for a little fun, she travels to the city of water and romance. There, Leona serendipitously meets Renato, a handsome and robust Italian shopkeeper. Is he the match to Leona’s romantic ideals?
Do I Hear A Waltz? features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Arthur Laurents, adapted from Laurents’ play The Time of the Cuckoo. Jamibeth Margolis directs.
