Combining elements of opera, Broadway musical and social drama, The Cradle Will Rock uses humor, parody, and satire to expose the desperation and discontent of its time. As union-organizers gain strength, steel magnate Mr. Mister bribes and coerces businessmen, clergy and the local press to support the steel industry and silence the voice of exploited workers.
