European Repertory Company presents Teibele And Her Demon, by Isaac Bashevis Singer and Eve Friedman, directed by Zeljko Djukich. The play is set in a small town in Poland in the 1880s. Teibele is a young woman whose husband has left her without divorcing her, rendering her an agunah, a woman ineligible to marry until her husband divorces her or dies. Alchonon, an unemployed village tutor, is smitten with her. He discovers her passion for demons and disguises himself as a demon to win his way into her bed and her heart.
