About this show

The side project theatre company will present the world premiere of Laura Eason's Rewind as the first production of its 9th season. The production is the next in a series of successful stagings of Eason's works around the country - including Sex with Strangers, a breakout hit of Steppenwolf's 2009 First Look Repertory series - and the collaboration marks the beginning of a new era for the Rogers Park-based theatre company. The story of three friends and musicians knocked about by the caprices of the music industry (and each other), Rewind is partly a "time capsule" for Eason, who (along with fellow Lookingglass Theatre ensemble member Joy Gregory) played at venues including the Metro, the Double Door and the now-defunct Lounge Act and recorded tracks for Sweet Pea Records as bass player for Chicago indie rock act Tart. Rewind is also a personal exploration - told in reverse chronological order - of the dark side of success, inspired by the private struggles and often public self-destruction of some of her musical idols.
