Road to Mecca, The

The Fountain Theatre begins its season with the Los Angeles Premiere of Athol Fugard’s THE ROAD TO MECCA. Set in South Africa in 1974, this is the poignant tale of an eldery woman who has spent the years since her husband’s death transforming her home and yard into a dazzling work of art. Winner of the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, this production is an illuminating study of the artist’s soul, exploring themes of creative freedom, apartheid, friendship, suppressed love, aging and human dignity.
