About This Show

Don Pedro, Prince of Aragon, arrives at Messina with his comrades-in-arms, Claudio and Benedick, and Don John, his brother. Romance blossoms between Claudio and Hero, the daughter of Messina’s governor, Leonato. Hero’s cousin Beatrice prefers matching wits to courting, however, and finds a willing partner in Benedick, a confirmed bachelor. A journey of courtship follows as the characters find both love and self-knowledge. Award-winning director Michael Shamata brings a fresh approach to Shakespeare’s timeless work and Royal Bank Festival of Classics fifth season with this witty romantic comedy.
