At the turn of the last century, Italian born actress Eleanora Duse was described as “the greatest actress the world has ever known.” Her influence on the modern theatre was incalculable, being considered the first modern actor for her naturalistic stage portrayals, yet today she is for the most part unknown. Brought to the stage by veteran Canadian actress and 2003 recipient of the Earle Grey award, Jennifer Dale, Duse, re-enacts her last night on earth.
