About This Show

Théâtre français de Toronto (TfT) launches its 39th season with legendary Canadian playwright Michel Tremblay’s new play Bonbons Assortis. As one of TfT’s audiences’ favourite authors, Tremblay puts on stage characters straight from his own family, and he portrays them with an ever biting sense of humour. In Bonbons Assortis, the author, as a child, spends his time under the dining room table listening to the adults’ conversations. Encountering Nana (his mother), Aunt Albertine, grandmother Victoire, his father Gabriel and the colourful Josaphat-le-violon, the audience has the pleasure of discovering (or rediscovering) a dysfunctional family if there ever was one – and a family that makes everyone else’s look much better by comparison.

Some performances are offered with English surtitles to enable all theatregoers to enjoy the play in its original language.
