About This Show

Pleiades Theatre presents Beaux Gestes & Beautiful Deeds, an autobiographical play by singer and songwriter Marie-Lynn Hammond.

Set in both 1944 and the present, the show reflects not only Canada’s bi-cultural identity, but the history of Canadian women in the first half of the last century and, in a more general way, the multiplicity of voices in our multi-cultural society of today. The stories of Marie-Lynn Hammond’s two grandmothers – Elsie Hammond, a flamboyant lady of means from Vancouver, and Corinne Allard, a long-suffering canadienne française from the poorest parts of Ottawa and Sudbury – are stitched together by the glorious songs of Marie-Lynn.

Some Bilingual French/English performances: Sun Apr 25, Fri Apr 30 and Wed May 5.
