Thirteen

Theater of Yugen’s monthly series presents Thirteen, a solo Butoh dance performance with a live musical accompaniment. Thirteen explodes with cruelty and sweetness as it offers a glimpse into the life of a thirteen-year-old girl. Soloist Haruko Nishimura explores moments of emotional and spiritual awakenings, revealing the strong undercurrent of the struggle between power and powerlessness. Nishimura dances the spirit of many young girls, and lives through their moments of confrontation.
