Third Skin

A Butoh Lolita, Third Skin is the disturbing tale of an old man’s ghost seducing a young girl to drowning to steal her soul. Through a window in time we glimpse the little girl playing in the grass where the hospital once stood. His broken body beckons her towards the water’s edge. Swimming, she drowns. Dressing in her clothes, he befriends and becomes her. He slips into her soft spiraling new joints and floats in her lightness. Suddenly fitful, his new body contorts in anger and confusion. Ashamed and seeing his escape as false, he withdraws and offers the drowned girl her spirit back.
