The BFG (Big Friendly Giant)

About the Show

Berkeley Playhouse presents The BFG (Big Friendly Giant), by David Wood, adapted from the book by Roald Dahl, and directed by Jon Tracy.

From the award-winning author Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach) comes the stage adaptation of his gobsmacking and dreamy adventure – the beloved tale of an unlikely friendship between a twelve year old girl and a big friendly giant!

Unable to sleep one night, Sophie catches sight of a Giant outside her dormitory window. Realizing that he has been spotted, the Giant whisks Sophie away to his secret lair, but instead of eating her (as most Giants would), he enchants her with his funny tales, silly whizzpoppers and the lovely golden dreams.

Most giants are not so friendly, in fact, most of these beastly creatures love nothing more than crunching the bones of “human beans.” When the children of England become their next target, the young orphan Sophie and the 24-foot Big Friendly Giant team up to save the children of England by embarking on a magical journey that takes them from Giant Country all the way to Buckingham Palace.

The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) features zany, mixed-up words, wonderfully wicked humor and fantastical, dreamsical adventures. Prepare to be revolted by snozzcumbers and frobscottle and to whoop it up with the likes of Fleshlumpeater, Gizzardgulper, Childchewer and Bloodbottler!
