About This Show

EXIT Theatre brings back mugwumpin theatre, one of its companies-in-residence, with a new and original show, super: anti: reluctant. According to co-artistic director and performer Christopher W. White, super: anti: reluctant “shamelessly unmasks the obsession with the American hero [by] investigat[ing] various heroic archetypes and their sway over our culture. Original and found music, text, gesture, and sheer freakishness conjoin to create a stunning visual and physical experience. mugwumpin’s parallel universe reveals the myths that live among us.”

Calling themselves “San Francisco’s nerviest young company,” mugwumpin (no capital “m”) draws upon its members training in Commedia Dell’Art and Lecoq-based physical theatre to perform original works in “a whirlwind evening of innovative theatricality.”
