Campo Santo and Intersection for the Arts present the world premiere of Sacrament!, a new play created in collaboration by Dave Eggers, Campo Santo & Kent Nicholson, featuring Tina Marie Murray, Sean San José, Michael Torres & Danny Wolohan and design team of Suzanne Castillo, James Faerron, Jeff Fohl, Dan Hamaguchi, Lucy Karanfilian, Paul Lancour & Christopher Studley. In much the same way that Eggers and his literary journal McSweeney’s attempt to shatter literary constructs, this piece takes off from Eggers’ novels You Shall Know Our Velocity and the recently revised version of the book titled Sacrament! and further activates Eggers’ bold exploration of self-conscious narration and revisionist memory by bringing the characters and their stories to life on stage. It has been created by Eggers, Kent Nicholson, and Campo Santo through workshops focusing on material from the books, new writing and an exploration into questions about whether or not we can re-write our pasts.
