Taiko Drums disrupt the hit-parade tunes of state-side radio in this wry, poignant and highly theatrical new play set at Tokyo naval base in the mid-1950s. In a witty world of culture clash and outworn convention, a charming, all-American Lieutenent falls for a Japanese waitress, a gay officer faces court martial and frustrated housewife contemplates independence, each foreshadowing the conflicts of an America to come.
