Traveling Jewish Theatre reimagines the Golem tale during its 27th season with Dirt and Glory: Return of the Golem. The most famous Golem story takes place in 16th century Prague. Then, the renowned Rabbi Loew created the most famous Golem (a Frankenstein-like creature) to protect his people from a pogrom, but it escaped his control. This year’s exploration was inspired by the multitude of Golem myths. Director Eric Rhys Miller explains, “the story of the golem struck me as a primary metaphor for our times: humanity’s creative genius resulting in powerful forces with unpredictable consequences. It’s a myth, a thriller, and in our new adaptation, a mirror that reveals hidden truths.”
