It is 1960 and renowned theater critic Kenneth Tynan has a brilliant idea. After tracking down the reclusive Orson Welles in London, Tynan convinces him to direct Laurence Olivier and Olivier’s new love Joan Plowright in a revival of Ionesco’s avant-garde play, Rhinocerous. This producion and its now-legendary rehearsal process is brought vividly to life in Orson’s Shadow, a new play by Austin Pendleton.
