About the Show

It is 1960 and renowned theater critic Kenneth Tynan has a brilliant idea. After tracking down the reclusive Orson Welles in London, Tynan convinces him to direct Laurence Olivier and Olivier’s new love Joan Plowright in a revival of Ionesco’s avant-garde play, Rhinocerous. This producion and its now-legendary rehearsal process is brought vividly to life in Orson’s Shadow, a new play by Austin Pendleton. Join Orson, Larry, Joan, and Ken as they wrestle with the muse, each other, and Vivian Leigh in this delightful study of the drama of ego and the art of personality. Kyle Donnelly directs.
