About This Show

Kate Fodor’s Hannah and Martin is set against the backdrop of World War II, where passion and principle collide. In this award-winning play, Jewish intellectual Hannah Arendt struggles to justify her enduring feelings for philosopher Martin Heidegger, who supported the Nazi party. Taking questions of evil and guilt into the realm of the intimate, Hannah and Martin bristles with subtle insights into the divisions fracturing the world today. A searing love story and a sensual, deeply felt drama of ideas, the play raises questions about the possibility of forgiveness and the limits of loyalty. Francine Chemnick directs.
