Fire on the Mountain

San Diego Rep presents the world premiere of the musical Fire on the Mountain, the story of a region, of a community, and of a generation of unique workers who built America. It is the story of people living in the shadow of the Appalachian mountains and in the shadow of constant danger, working under signs that warn, “Be careful today. Be alive tomorrow.” The musical features a collection of songs and voices of the American families who survived strikes, mine disasters, the struggle to unionize, and the destruction of their communities. Told through the profoundly moving music of the Appalachian region, Fire on the Mountain features world-renowned talents Dan Wheetman, “Mississippi” Charles Bevel and Molly Andrews, weaving musical stories as old as the hills and as current as the headlines.
