About This Show

Directed by Matt Almos and produced by Nancy Adler, The Ovation Awards honors LA’s top theatre productions, artists and technicians selected from more than 391 productions registered with Actor’s Equity from Sept. 1, 2002 to Aug. 31 of this year. The Board of Governors also bestows special honors on Gordon Davidson, retiring artistic director of the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum, and Ed Waterstreet, co-founding artistic director of Deaf West Theatre.

Presenters scheduled to appear include Tony Abatemarco, Luis Alfaro, Marge Champion, Carole Cook, Jon Gottlieb, Shishir Kurup, Mark Murphy, Richard Thomas, Tom Troupe, B. J. Ward, Lula Washington, and more.

Hosting the event is Lily Tomlin. Tomlin, perhaps best known for her comedic appearances on stage and TV, is also a TV and movie actress. She is no stranger to awards shows, having won six Emmy’s, two Tony Awards®, a Grammy, two Peabody Awards, and Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards, among others, and she recently performed at the Ahmanson Theatre in her one-woman show, The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe. She currently co-stars in NBC’s “The West Wing.”
