About the Show

The Cover of Life is an insightful and affecting play set in a time when we believed in what we were fighting for. The semi-autobiographical (and sole) work of Louisiana-born playwright R.T. Robinson tells the story of three young brides whose husbands–all three brothers–are shipped off to fight in WWII. When their tale reaches the attention of the editor of LIFE magazine, a female war correspondent is dispatched to their rural Louisiana home in hopes of writing a cover story on how small-town America copes with the demands and sacrifices of war. Her visit, however, ultimately reveals a much less than picture-perfect view…a snapshot of women struggling to find their personal dreams at home while the men they love fight for the dreams of their country overseas.
