Nomad Productions presents the U.S. premiere of The Body, written by Nick Darke and directed by David Payne. Originally staged at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the play is a political comedy reminiscent of Dr. Strangelove by way of the Marx Brothers. When a body is washed up on the shore of a small ‘foreign’ town, the local inhabitants squabble over its ownership and who found it first. When the truth comes out about the “who and why” of this discarded person, the U.S. military hierarchy gets involved in a cover up by blaming terrorists. This results in the multiple arrests of the local inhabitants, including that of the Rector, who, to escape indictment – dresses as a Chinese person, only to be arrested as a communist spy. And that is just the beginning…
