The Bird House by Diane Glancy (Cherokee)
Autry Museum of Western Heritage / Wells Fargo Theater, Los Angeles
Three new plays by Native playwrights, featuring staged readings of new works by Diane Glancy (Cherokee) and Julie Pearson-Little Thunder (Creek), and a staged developmental production of Time Immemorial by Jack Dalton (Yup’ik) and Allison Warden (Inupiaq).
This exciting new work (“The Bird House”) by Diane Glancy (Cherokee), author of the hit play Salvage, is set in the back room of a failing church in the high plains of Texas. The Bird House is filled with the booming voice of an evangelical preacher and his timid sisters as they sort through the snarls of their past and face an uncertain future. Appropriate for ages 14 and older.
